PUTRAJAYA: MCA central committee member Datuk Ti Lian Ker took a swipe at MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

He said there would not be peace in MCA if the leaders insisted on killing off each other even after the emergence of the party's "greater unity plan".

Ti, a staunch supporter of MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, said the party needed all three -- Ong, former deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and Liow -- to come together for the sake of the Chinese community.

In his blog, Ti said it was time for leaders to "suspend our false inconsistent principles in the interest of the party's stability".

"I, for one, will not allow Liow to be killed or removed from the party. He is also needed but for heaven's sake, let's work together. Stop being a rabble-rouser and be a good deputy," he wrote.

Asking party leaders to give the peace plan a chance, Ti said MCA leaders should be glad and thankful that conflicts in the party had come to an end.

Liow had said on Wednesday that he would explain to party members nationwide about what really happened after the EGM.

In George Town, state MCA deputy liaison committee chairman Eng Hiap Boon challenged Liow to state what he wanted the party president to do.

Eng said he had no doubt that Ong respected the resolutions made at the party's last extraordinary general meeting.

"If Liow thinks otherwise, he should spell out what he wants the president to do," he said.

鄭聯科直指廖中萊 第三股勢力推手

鄭聯科直指廖中萊 第三股勢力推手
http://www2.orientaldaily.com.my/read/GEN/2lB60J5g0S7t9cdq1QmB0eef2dAf4PdB

Liow the leader of third force, says CC man

Liow the leader of third force, says CC man

2009/10/24

KUALA LUMPUR: AN MCA central committee member has alleged that deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai is the leader behind the shadowy third force widely credited with rejecting president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and his former deputy Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek at the Oct 10 extraordinary general meeting.

In a post on his blog at www.tilianker.blogspot.com, Datuk Ti Lian Ker said Liow wanted to take over the party's top post and used the group to manipulate and exploit supporters of Ong and Dr Chua, leading to the party's political crisis.

"It is morally and politically incorrect to hand over the leadership of the party to a third force.

"Its emergence shows a lack of political integrity and strength to face the challenges of the next general election," he wrote on Thursday.

He said Liow would not succeed in his efforts to take over the party as he was perceived by members as having orchestrated a revolt against Ong immediately after the EGM results were announced.

Similarly, Dr Chua's supporters could not accept Liow as the incoming president although olive branches and goodwill gestures had been extended to Dr Chua and his supporters.

"Dr Chua's supporters refused to work with or support Liow to be president as he is seen to be the 'evil' man responsible for the fall of their boss (Dr Chua)," Ti said.

Liow's move in leading 21 other CC members to openly disagree with Ong's call for a second EGM to let delegates decide on the need for a fresh election was not well received by members, who perceived his actions to be an act of betrayal.

It was also alleged that Liow and the CC jointly signed a letter demanding Ong's resignation.

Liow later clarified that the letter was for him to present the CC's views to Ong.

Extraordinary move to solve the MCA internal crisis

Extraordinary move to solve the MCA internal crisis
Oct 22, 09 8:18pm
MCA president Ong Tee Keat has come out with an extraordinary, well-conceived plan in another brilliant political move to unite the party following the outcome of the Oct 10 EGM and subsequently the powerful Central Committee (CC) meeting last Thursday.

Party sources said Ong had carefully executed the plan immediately after last Thursday's CC meeting where some of his supporters plotted unsuccessfully to topple him from the party presidency.

NONEThe plan failed to materialise after Ong decided to invoke Article 30.1 of the party constitution, directing party secretary-general Wong Foon Ming to call for an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to determine whether the party should go for fresh elections.

A party insider said MCA vice-president Dr Ng Yen Yen and another CC member Ti Lian Ker had played some role behind the scene to get the two leaders together, including contacting Chua in Singapore on Sunday.

"Following that, Chua returned on Monday and immediately Ong met Chua face to face. They talked for several hours and worked out the unity plan.

"This was followed by several meetings before both agreed to brief the prime minister on their proposal," a party insider who has knowledge of the plan told Bernama.

When asked on their role, both Ng and Ti refused to comment except saying that they were happy that both leaders were able to work together again "without being influenced by others".

PM was sceptical at first

Another party source said initially Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was sceptical about the plan when briefed about it.

"Only after some convincing explanation by Chua that the prime minister gave his blessing," said the source.

The party insider explained that the Ong-Chua meeting took place at the same time Ong was meeting his newly elected deputy president Liow Tiong Lai to solve the party's internal crisis.

"The only thing is that they did not meet all together at the same time but were aware of each other's meeting," the insider said.

NONESome of Ong's hardcore supporters said he did not find it a problem to work with Chua after realising that he was "betrayed by some of his most trusted supporters" in the CC.

"The people who asked him to remove Chua from the party are the same who want to topple him from the party presidency. The mistake was that he trusted these people too much and never wanted to talk directly to Chua.

"He now realises his mistake. After talking directly to Chua in the past few days, he found it was actually not that difficult to talk to him. That was how they could work out the unity plan," said a CC member who requested anonymity.

Backstabbers beware

While the details of the "greater unity plan" is not being revealed yet, it is learnt that those involved are waiting for the decision of the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on the position of Chua in the party after the Oct 10 EGM.

Therefore, it is interesting to watch the next move by all these leaders involved in the next few days, particularly the fate of those who went against Ong previously.

They include some elected and appointed CC members.

"All eyes will now be on these people, including ministers and deputy ministers, who have been very vocal in calling for Ong to step down," said a party source.

"Therefore, in politics there is this saying that there is no permanent enemies and no permanent friends," he said.

Tee Keat reminded to honour his three-year mandate

Tee Keat reminded to honour his three-year mandate

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat has been reminded that he has a three-year mandate from the delegates to complete his agenda for change.

»They (central committee members) must have the courage to express their intentions and stand up to the political challenges« DATUK TI LIAN KER

Central committee member Datuk Ti Lian Ker urged Ong not to “allow lesser honourable leaders to lecture you on the virtues of honour”.

“You are not here on a popularity or beauty contest. As a leader, you may be ugly but have a heart of gold,” he said on his blog http://tilianker.blogspot.com/ yesterday.

Ti insisted Ong did not lie when the president called upon the principle of collective responsibility.

Before the Oct 10 party extraordinary general meeting, Ong had said that should former deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek be reinstated, this was tantamount to casting a no-confidence vote against the entire presidential council.

This was because the council members made a collective decision on Aug 26 to endorse the recommendation of the disciplinary board to expel Dr Chua.

Ti said when Ong wanted to walk his talk, the presidential council members refused.

“If Ong quit as the president in the name of collective responsibility, the public pressure would be mounting on the members of the presidential council to quit too.

“Therefore many appeal for him to stay. Some even suggested that he tender his resignation letter in order for the central committee to reject later,” he said.

Ti said the presidential council ought to resign en-bloc; or offer to resign en-bloc, when the outcome of the EGM reinstated Dr Chua.

He said Datuk Seri Tan Chai Ho, among those who had called for the party EGM, had repeatedly stressed the meeting was merely meant to reinstate Dr Chua.

He said Ong’s reform had received tremendous support and created a feel good factor from the public.

Ti said if the central committee members were reluctant to dissolve and seek a fresh mandate, they must have the courage to express their intentions and stand up to the political challenges.

Ti: There was evilness in the air during CC meeting

Ti: There was evilness in the air during CC meeting
KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA central committee meeting last Thursday was the most fiery, rough and crude meeting that the party ever had, said CC member Datuk Ti Lian Ker.
In a hard-hitting blog entry yesterday, Ti wrote how there was “evilness in the air” during the Oct 15 meeting.
He described how some other CC members, had, during the course of the meeting, spoke in an unbecoming tone when addressing president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, without even bothering to seek permission to speak.
“People who used to boot-lick suddenly showed their ugly faces. They have no respect for the chair of the president.
“The central committee meeting was the most fiery, rough and crude one we ever had. Individuals who were beneficiaries of the president’s office turned into vultures seeking for dead bodies and the intended corpse was the president’s body,” he said on his blog http://tilianker.blogspot.com/ yesterday.
He added that the siege from within – surrounding and attacking the president – was too much for some of the central committee to stomach.
“People who were known to be in the other camp could not stomach the evilness in the air. Some came to the president’s rescue not out of goodwill but strictly out of good conscience,” he said.
Ti said the central committee members were morally obliged to resign together with Ong based on the outcome of the party’s extraordinary general meeting (EGM).
He added that the presidential council and central committee members who had pushed for the dismissal and subsequent suspension of former deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, must resign to account for the rejection of their decision based on the outcome of the EGM’s second resolution.
During the Oct 10 EGM, the central delegates voted to reinstate Dr Chua as a party member.
“The president may have spoken publicly but that does not mean the central committee or presidential council had been absolved of their collective responsibility,” said Ti.
He added that Ong had articulated on the spirit of collective responsibility regarding the decision of the disciplinary action over Dr Chua.
Ti said the rightful status of Dr Chua must be established by making reference to the Registrar of Societies.
“The president abstained from voting at the central committee meeting as he was of the opinion that the legal status of Dr Chua ought to be clarified,” he said.
He said Ong and Dr Chua commanded more than 90% of the total number of central delegates’ votes they gathered at the EGM.
“Any solution towards settling the quandary of the party now requires political consensus.
“Thus the third force is only marginal; and is not morally or politically able to take over the party based on the central committee support alone, consisting of people who have vested personal interests at heart,” he said.

KUALA LUMPUR - CC member Ti Lian Ker has described the MCA central committee meeting last Thursday as the most 'fiery, rough and crude meeting' that the party ever had.

Turned into vultures

Ti lauds report on MACC’s investigation

KUALA LUMPUR: An MCA central committee member has welcomed a report that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has not found any evidence indicating Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat has received RM10mil for party activities.

“We are glad with the speedy investigation by the commission,” said Datuk Ti Lian Ker in a statement.

The Star and Nanyang Siang Pau yesterday stated the commission had not found any evidence to indicate that Ong, the MCA president, had received RM10mil from Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing for party activities.

It was learnt that investigations by the commission have so far drawn a blank, and nothing had been uncovered to back Tiong’s allegation.

Tiong himself is being investigated by the police and the commission for fraud, including overcharging and unsubstantiated claims in the construction of the controversial RM4.6bil Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) project.

Ti, the MCA’s non-governmental organisation liaison bureau chief, said Ong’s management of the PKFZ fiasco should be lauded and given full support.
